Our family days are an opportunity for parents and children to be together in the outdoors with activities, fire and fun provided. Enjoy crafts, cooking on the fire and time to explore, play and be together in nature.
Live Wild’s May Celebration
Saturday 4th May 2024 – 1.45pm. The event finishes at 4.30pm
Join us for this seasonal celebration at our beautiful basecamp in Knott Wood. This is a family event for children of any age accompanied by parents. Expect a cosy campfire, craft activities and lots of May merriment!
We will make May crowns and masks using natural materials, cook pancakes over the fire and drizzle them with dandelion ‘honey’, and share seasonal stories and songs.
Meet at 1.45 in the Savile Road Bowling Club carpark (please park on Savile Road and walk up to the meeting point as the carpark is private).
Be sure to wear sturdy walking boots and bring full waterproofs.
We will provide campfire pancakes, a fire and crafts.
There is a compost toilet at the site, and a shelter in case of rain.
What happens on a family day?
Our family days open with circle time around the fire. Coming together in this way is a practice as old as the hills, and a great way to connect with each other and our woodland surroundings. We will then move into seasonal activities which might include stories, singing songs, playing games, building dens, campfire cooking and crafts.
Our Nature Guides and Forest School leaders will hold the space in a way that welcomes everyone, and makes it easy to get to know each other in a fun way without any expectations. Supporting everyone to follow their individual passions and curiosity is what we are good at.
